Join us for an intensive look at the intersection of investigative reporting, digital security, and legal implications as they pertain to reporting on the US/Mexico land border. This event brings together frontline reporting experience with security expertise to address the unique challenges of covering the border. Investigative journalist and border reporter James Stout will be in conversation with security expert Harlo Holmes about this and more, with plenty of time for discussion and Q&A with attendees.

It’s been a busy few months here at New Media Rights! We finished our spring semester, and have just started our summer semester - welcome to our new summer students!

New Media Rights is honored and grateful to be named the 2026 San Diego County Bar Association Distinguished Organization of the year.  The award is given to a group or organization that has made significant, favorable impact on some facet of the legal system, the legal community or profession, or civics education.

New Media Rights is proud to have worked on Desert Angel, a documentary film by Vincent DeLuca. The film tells the inspiring, heartbreaking, and human stories of migrants and aid workers that are the reality of immigration at our southern border. Desert Angel has been accepted to and won awards at numerous film festivals.
