Andrew Sanchez

Andrew is entering his 2L year at California Western School of Law in San Diego where he plans to focus on International Business Law. He received his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice while serving in the Army. After working for the Department of Defense for an additional four years; he decided that government work was not his passion he decided to start a new career path and attend law school. He decided to focus on international business because of his background in foreign policy. He also intends to obtain a MBA with SDSU. In his free time Andrew enjoys traveling mainly to visit his family and friends across the US, and occasionally internationally.

Bryan Martinez

My name is Bryan Martinez I am currently a 3rd year at California Western School of Law. I attended the University of California at Irvine and graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Chicano Studies. I took two years off where at worked at various law firms ranging from workers compensation, personal injury, corporate, and criminal. However, I have become interested in Intellectual Property and am currently part of the Trademark Clinic at California Western School of Law. In my free time I like to lift weights, hike, play sports, and run.

Tyler Hicks

Clinic Intern

Tyler Hicks works directly with innovative clients as a Law Clerk Intern at New Media Rights.  Before joining New Media Rights, he worked for eight years as a legal assistant and paralegal for a law firm in his home state of Louisiana.  His interest in intellectual property law stems from his involvement in numerous federal copyright infringement cases prior to entering law school.

Tyler received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University of Shreveport, and is currently in his second year at California Western School of Law.

When he is not at the New Media Rights office, he can be found either scuba diving or volunteering at the St. Vincent De Paul Society in downtown San Diego.


 

Brandon Frazier

Brandon Frazier currently works as a Clinical Intern at New Media Rights. Brandon moved to San Diego from Atlanta, Georgia in 2013 to pursue a life-long dream of becoming an attorney. Prior to law school, Brandon attended Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. After graduation, he worked for a market research firm, as well as a server and trainer for Hillstone Restaurant Group. Brandon hopes to pursue a legal career in Intellectual Property, specializing in Copyright and Trademark Law. Brandon decided this career path while growing up amongst family and friends, whom are largely creative musicans and designers. In his spare time, Brandon enjoys cooking, wine tasting, and distance running.

Nick Sabatella

Clinic Intern

Nick Sabatella works directly with innovative clients as a Law Clerk Intern at New Media Rights.  Before joining New Media Rights, he worked at the US District Court for the Southern District of San Diego as a Judicial Extern for magistrate judge Rueben B. Brooks. Nick has also worked with South Coast Air Quality Management District as a legal intern, and as an intern with a consumer bankruptcy attorney in Pasadena. He is currently writing for California Western School of Law's Law Review and competing with CWSL's Negotiations/ADR team.

 

Nick's interest in intellectual property law stems from his interest in music, and his desire to help members of his family with their businesses as artists, musicians, graphic designers, web designers and photographers.  

 

Nick received his undergraduate degree from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks CA, and is currently in his second year at California Western School of Law. When he is not in the New Media Rights office, he can be found cooking, playing rugby, and going to rock concerts at the House of Blues or sleep train amphitheater.

 

Nicholas J. Petruolo

Legal Intern

Nick studied political science at the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated with honors. He is in his third year at California Western School of law, and is an active member of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society. Nick has excelled in research and writing during his undergraduate and law school studies. His educational background and experience enable him to assist in handling a wide variety of legal matters.

Nick also has an avid passion for tennis. He was among the top junior players in San Diego and has competed at both the high school and collegiate level. When he isn't studying or playing tennis, he also enjoys watching movies, working out, and spending time with family.

Joelle Bartkins

Legal Intern

Joelle studied Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated with honors.  She grew up in Pittsburgh and moved to San Diego in 2010.  Joelle worked for almost four years as a construction contract coordinator for a real estate investment trust focused on the science and technology industries, and she is now in her second year at California Western School of Law.   Joelle is the Administrator for The Student Bar Administration, the Editor of the Campus News column in the school’s newspaper, The Commentary, and is a member of the Business Law Society.  Joelle excelled in the studies of contracts, legal research, and legal writing.

Joelle enjoys spending her free time at the beach, on the water, and exploring new places.  She has a big family in Pittsburgh and enjoys any opportunity to go visit with them. 
 

Emory Roane

Legal Intern

Emory studied political science and history at Louisiana State University, where he was actively involved in the Student Media Department, at times working with printed news as well as helping to shape the university’s radio and web presence.


Currently in his second year at California Western School of Law, Emory is studying internet and privacy law, and is a member of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association. In his free time, Emory is fascinated by all things nerdy, from crypto-currencies to virtual reality. Passionate about digital civil liberties, cyber security and emerging disruptive technologies, Emory hopes to play a role in the larger emerging national dialogue about the evolving relationship between law and technology in our society.

Leopoldo Gabriel Estrada

Clinical Intern

Gabe studied history at the University of California, San Diego. His field of studies had an emphasis on war, revolution and social change, which inspired him to make a social impact through a legal career.  Now in his second year at California Western School of Law, Gabe is an active member of the Moot Court Honors Board and enjoys public debate.  He excelled in the study of property and developed a keen interest for intellectual property and internet law.

Outside of school, Gabe is married and has two wonderful children that he intends to make big Star Wars fans like himself.  Although often faced with their pushback, he loves taking them to comic and fan conventions to expose them to the world of geekdom.  He is a member of the R2-D2 Builders Club and has a fully operational life-size R2-D2 as well as a collection of movie props.  Additionally, Gabe is very active in the San Diego music and art scene.  He aspires to use his legal knowledge to help artists achieve and protect their dreams.
