Mayra is a second-year law student from the San Fernando Valley with Mexican/Honduran roots. She is a first-generation Lawtina who received her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Disability Studies at UCLA. She has always been and still is passionate about speaking out against injustice and giving a voice to those who are too often silenced. While she is still exploring what field of law she wants to pursue, she hopes to use her law degree to provoke and aid in policy change. She hopes to inspire other Latinx students to pursue their dreams despite the fear of the unknown, especially as a first-generation student.
Apart from her career ambitions, Mayra is a huge theatre nerd, loves karaoking and trying new food! She is excited to begin her role at New Media Rights and learn about one of the fastest growing fields of law.
