MEDIA/MARKETING INTERN
Reports to: San Diego Coalition of Peace and Justice Media Chairperson
This unpaid internship position is open to candidates with education and/or experience in communications, marketing and/or public relations. The best candidate will have an interest in and passion for peace issues and social/economic justice, in the San Diego region, State-wide, nationally, and internationally.
The San Diego Coalition for Peace & Justice (www.sdcpj.org) is the premiere grassroots organization actively working for peace and justice in the San Diego region. Since 2001 SDCPJ has existed to oppose war as a reaction to the tragic Sept. 11 attacks; and to promote economic and social justice in all forms, throughout the greater San Diego region. SDCPJ has organized dozens of public demonstrations, rallies, teach-ins, and other events to this end; and sponsors countless additional events and actions. We work in concert and collaboratively with other organizations and institutions, and most of the events and actions undertaken have been multi-party, collaborative efforts. The fiduciary agent for SDCPJ is the San Diego Peace Resource Center (www.prc.org).
SDCPJ maintains functional committees, one of which is the Media Committee. This committee is responsible for press releases, press packets, and media/press contact related to our events, publications and positions. The Coalition desires to broaden its voice and appeal to the San Diego public, through the more effective use of traditional media, and the application of new/emerging media and communications. The Media/Marketing Intern will work with the SDCPJ Media Chair and members to develop and implement messaging and marketing strategies and tactics.
