A Media & Outreach Intern will:
- assist with media outreach to traditional and new media outlets to share NMR content with and build a contact list
- assist in identifying donors and grant organizations that fit New Media Rights services and needs
- assist with designing printed material and offering insight on the design of the NMR website
- assist with outreach for Drumbeat San Diego
- coordinate and participate in other collaborative staff projects
Requirements:
- communications outreach/marketing and/or PR experience
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- being available for Drumbeat meetings and for the main Drumbeat event on February 5th, 2011
- ability to work on multiple projects at once, with various deadlines
- comfortable working with a diverse range of people
Your interest in our work and public advocacy is a key requirement as well. New Media Rights offers free legal assistance on copyright and online publishing questions. We frequently create guides on media policy and topics of DMCA, CDA 230 and creative commons. We also offer a public media studio to the San Diego creative community and help citizens create their own media more easily.
